CAN5000: Coast to Coast for the Kids
In 2027 I'm running across Canada. Mile 0 in St. John's to Mile 0 in Victoria. About 5,200 miles (8,400 km), 65 to 70 km a day, from late April to early September.
THE ROUTE
Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, then Quebec City and Montreal. Ontario through Ottawa, Toronto and a loop through my home region of Niagara, then north to Sudbury, Thunder Bay and Kenora. Across the Prairies through Winnipeg and Regina, into the Rockies at Calgary and Banff, and down through BC to Vancouver and the ferry to Victoria. Nine provinces, and more than 180 Canadian Tire stores along the way.
WHY
In every town on that road there are kids whose families can't cover registration, gear or a ride to practice. Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities closes that gap, and every dollar on this page goes to Jumpstart to get kids into sport and play.
Last summer I ran 550 miles around Lake Ontario for Jumpstart. This time it's coast to coast, and the goal is $1,000,000.
Terry Fox never made a dime off his run, and I won't either. Nobody pays me for this. My food, shoes and van are covered separately by gear sponsors, and none of it comes out of this page. 100% of what you give here goes to Jumpstart, and every gift over $20 gets an official tax receipt.
If I come through your town, come run a kilometre with me. If you can't, a donation keeps a kid in the game.
Thank you,
Adam Saltarelli
