Donate FAQs

The most common issue with online donations is that the donor address you have entered does not match the billing address on your credit card.

If you are trying to make a donation on behalf of someone else (for example they have given you cash they wish to contribute, or need help using on online donation system), please contact us. We would be happy to help you complete your donation.

Currently, we are not able to accept donations through Visa Debit, PayPal or other methods other than credit cards. Our apologies for any inconvenience.

Our site is also only able to process donations up to $10,000.

We have other options to accept large donations such as cheque, EFT or donations of shares/securities. We would love to hear from you if you are considering a large donation!
All donations $20 and over will automatically receive a tax receipt. If your donation was less than $20 but you would like to receive a receipt, please contact us. We would be happy to provide one.

Jumpstart is incredibly grateful for all contributions, but not all qualify as donations under Canada Revenue Agency guidelines. Ticket purchases, registration fees, contest entries or other contributions for which you receive a benefit do not qualify for tax receipts.

If you have created an account, you can access all information regarding your donations by logging in to your headquarters.

We would also be happy to send you a duplicate copy of your tax receipt. Please contact us to request one either via post or email.
Yes! If you prefer to send your donation through the mail, please make your cheque out to “Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities”.

Please include a note if you have any special requests regarding your donation, such as designating it to a fundraising event or a specific community.
Jumpstart operates 289 chapters across Canada. General donations help us support communities where financial need is very high – the same communities where there are often fewer donors to help support kids.

However, we are more than happy to direct your donation to the community of your choice. Please use the comments field to let us know your preferences.

Due to our funding model, we aren’t able to designate funds to a specific sport or organization. You can find out more about how Jumpstart selects funding recipients here.
Thank you for choosing Jumpstart to honour someone special! You can make your donation in honour or in memory of someone and request a card by email or post in the ‘Tribute’ section of the donation form.

If you have already completed your donation and forgot to request a card, please contact us. We would be happy to let your honouree or their family know.
Please contact us, we would be happy to send a list of donors, provided they gave permission for their names to be shared.

If you have created an account, you can login to see and manage your monthly donation.

You will receive a consolidated tax receipt at the end of the calendar year.

Fundraising FAQs

That’s amazing! Jumpstart is so grateful for choosing Jumpstart as your charitable partner.

You can set up your event on our DIY Event Page. You can also check out our DIY Event Guide for some tips and tricks.

We would also love to know more about your event, so reach out at any time to let us know your plans.
Each donor to your page has the choice of being anonymous or sharing their name on your page.

You can see a full, private list of donors on your fundraising headquarters page.

Log in with your email and password. Select My Fundraising Report on the left side. You will see a list of all of your donors.
To make sure the cash or cheque donations show up on your page, you can enter them as a pledge. This can be done in the fundraising section of your headquarters page when you login.

The status of the check will be pending until the check is received by Jumpstart. You can mail your cheques to:

Include a note that the donation should be directed to your event and fundraising page, as well as your own name. The Jumpstart team will then mark your donation as ‘verified’ and it will show up on your page.

it’s not a good idea to send a cash donation in the mail. One great option is to put the donation on your own credit card. This also works well if a cheque has been made out to you personally, rather than to Jumpstart.

To easily send thank-you emails to donors, follow these steps:

1. Log in
2. Access your fundraiser headquarters by clicking the "My HQ" link in the top right
3. Click "My Fundraising Report" in the left sidebar
4. Locate the donor/donation you'd like to thank and click "Send Email
5. Type the message in the pop-up window, and click "Send Email"
A personal URL is a shortened link to your personal page that you can send to friends and family in emails. A personal URL will look like this https://donate.jmpst.ca/employee-fundraising-2023/ben.

You set up your URL during the registration process. Your link can be found in the confirmation email you received upon completing registration, as well as in your fundraising headquarters under ‘My Page” and “URL”.
